Hardwood Flooring Tips

Hard Wood Flooring Tips

Hardwood Flooring is a beautiful addition to any home as well as an investment in its future value. With proper care and maintenance, your floor will remain attractive and functional for years to come. Simple common-sense procedures can lengthen the life of your floors and reduce the frequency of needed renovations such as rewaxing, recoating and re-finishing.

Tip #1

Common dirt and dust wear down your floors finish and shine (it acts like sandpaper). It's a good idea to sweep, mop, or vacuum regularly. Excess water can cause your floor to deform or swell over time. Mop with a slightly damp mop.

Tip #2

Use 'welcome' mats at entrances to your home to help reduce the amount of dirt tracked inside.

Tip #3

Area rugs or runners can reduce wear on high traffic areas & pathways. Avoid rubber backed rugs which do not allow the floor to 'breathe'.

Tip #4

Protect your flooring from dangers such as pets nails, high-heeled shoes, plants on the floor, and rolling furniture.

Tip #5

Only use the finish recommended for your floor.
